End of School Year Observations – The Web is Too Fast June 12, 2008

Breaking News: Apple is coming out with a new iphone – iphone 3G. Opps .. that was earlier in the week. That is a news story (dead horse) that has been beaten to death.

It’s always interesting to take a few days off to celebrate my 4 kids end of year sports and school accomplishments. Outside of the great family time with end of school year events, I’m reminded of how fast the pace is on the web. Who’s keeping track of all the action?

Techmeme does a good job if you’re always on, but where is the summary – the bottom line? RSS readers are terrible for my time lag on news, content, and events.. Maybe new apps like Friendfeed will address this, but even Friendfeed is realtime based. The normal user behavior is a mix of offline and online information where time is a major factor.

The web is to fast now I need more filters beyond Google. I need something that converges real time and asynchronous consumption of information.

Will Firefox or IE deliver this or a new app?
