I ran across this today in Forbes – a story documenting the exit of some of Technorati’s employees and hinting that they are in trouble. Technorati deserves alot of credit for their work in pioneering the blogosphere. I believe that if it wasn’t for Technorati we wouldn’t have seen the rise of new emerging media players like Mike Arrington. The technorati lists provides a much needed filter for the rest of the market to understand the rising stars and trends in blogging. Also Technorati was the original ‘gold standard’ for blog search. I agree there is more competition but I believe that Technorati will be a major player. The market is so early and Dave Sifry is a smart guy so I expect Technorati to be around for some time.
Pete at Mashable has a post up that asks: what should Technorti do?
Very interesting.
