Great insight over the week on the Sun, Apple, Google soap opera on Techmeme.. John Markoff of the NY Times weights in (a few days late) on the deal. Old media like the NY TImes can’t compete on the Real Time News front but great writers like John Markoff still ‘knock it out of the park’. John who had to compete with all the bloggers penned the story in his words.. he nailed it…”Mr. Schmidt and Mr. Jobs, both 51, share a common outlook: that computing technologies can be remarkably disruptive forces in business and in society at large.” I wonder when John will go solo like Matt Marshall.

If the Snapple deal goes down I will have to admit I didn’t see it coming.
Update: Dave Winer chimes in on Markoff. I have to disagree with Dave on this one. You can’t lump John Markoff into a broadstork diss against the Times. I thought Markoff nailed the story.
