Journalism is Computer Science

I started talking about this in January about how journalism is changing and how schools need to move with it.  It was what I called Moores Law in journalism.  Journalism is the new computer science.  Dan Farber posts about the recent discussion around journalism programs in light that print newspapers are dying.

I agree with most of the discussion that computer science and entrepreneurship are keys to the new journalism model.  The BlogHaus at CES was evidence of that.  At the end of the day it’s still about people and their ability to use current tools of the Internet.

What’s the asnwer?  It’s hard to predict.  One thing for sure is that there is a ‘reconfiguration of what press means’ and a ‘redistribution of the monies’.  Great news for media entrepreneurs.  Moore’s Law is happening in Journalism and Dan Faber is correct… look for entrepreneurship and entrepreneurs to be at the center of the action.
